Davidsen Middle School Media Center

Welcome back to Davidsen Middle School and the 2014-2015 school year.  I hope you all had a fun and restful summer, and I am looking forward to an exciting year working with you in the media center. 

Some of you may remember me from last year, but just in case you don't, I would like to introduce myself to you.  My name is Mrs. Supple, and I have been a teacher in Hillsborough County for the past 20 years.  The past 7 years I have spent as a reading teacher here at Davidsen.  However, when Mrs. Pothier decided to retire last year, I realized that this would be the perfect time to take on  a new challenge and become the media specialist and so far, I am loving it!!!

I am very excited to be launching many new and interesting programs in the media center this year.  For example, I am going to be using more forms of technology to keep you informed and up to date on all of the wonderful things taking place in here. 

This year you will be able to follow me on this blog and/or on Facebook where I will be posting information on "Battle of the Books", Banned Books Week, and Scholastic Book Fairs, In addition, I will be posting information on brand new titles that you can check out as we receive them throughout the year.  There will also be information about the media center's monthly activities and contests that everyone is invited to participate in for prizes.  Some of the upcoming, fun activities that I have planned for this year are: 

• "Biographies & Breakfast" - Read a biography & write a short summary and you will be invited to breakfast to discuss your biography with an administrator or teacher. (October)
• Food for Fines Canned Food Drive - Bring in a can of food for a needy family & I will remove your overdue library book fines. (November - December)
• Blind Date with a Book - Check out a "mystery" book & write a short summary of the story & your name will be entered in a drawing for a movie gift card. (February)

In addition to the above programs, there will also be other displays and activities throughout the year that I hope you will enjoy, so check the website regularly for updates and follow me on this new & exciting journey. I can't wait to get started!
